Re: Server Rank Watch
What I would like to see is a graph of all the bf3 pc players active versus our rank, over time. I have a feeling we're going up because other servers are shutting down, but maybe I'm being pessimistic. Is there any benefit to being in the top 200, top 100? top 50? Or is it just prestige?
Re: Server Rank Watch
I'd like to see it too - but I wouldn't think too awful many servers that were doing well enough to be ranked above us would be shutting down - I'm sure there are some, but I'd think the majority of the ones shutting down would be ones that rank on the upper side of us... :/
There aren't any advantages - just prestige I think

Re: Server Rank Watch
Well there's no getting around it, we have dropped to below 300 in rank. Now don't be too concerned as this is only a 1% drop overall (97th percentile to 96th). But there are numerous reasons, imo, we will never see above top 100 as things stand. A prominent reason is that all top rank servers are 64 players. I guess it helps because if the 'community' (117 in our case) starts to call it a night (everyone needs to sleep) it won't have a much of a sudden impact if many players leave because of the ratio. But having admins/mods in different time-zones could be huge as I think what kills a server is complete domination, then the base raping/camping starts, and without an admin on, people start to leave and then the winning team leaves too after the server takes a dump. You can look at the trends, it's a complete upswing 'hockey-stick' after a few guys are on to get the server going. Later on in the wee-night ('round 2-4am) the server all of a sudden will drop in the same hockey-stick fashion, except opposite, downward. If it doesn't follow this path it will have a few people leave, then hockey-stick down. It's always the same. And you can see in the off-peak hours that there are people who join and try to start the server, non-admins, nor members possibly, but it never kicks off unfortunately as I believe one side will dominate eventually and then people leave. (I am a piece of evidence myself, I dominate sometimes and cause the other side to start to leave/get mad/frustrated)
Another reason is the consistent crashing. I don't know how other servers fair but recently, we have yet to go even a couple of days without a server crash/wipe. Spec, I would consider a different host if you are worried about server rank/population, as to me it's just a number. I love the server not because of its popularity but because of the community.

Re: Server Rank Watch
Maybe someone can ask around to the other popular servers as to what host they use and if they suffer from the same crashes as 117.

Re: Server Rank Watch
Talked to Spec, he said it was a DICE thing, that all servers/hosts have the same issue, more or less, and that it depends on the users, the players, if they are willing to wait, and an admin is always online to reset the server if it crashes. Speaking of which I do not have that abilityBoOn wrote:Maybe someone can ask around to the other popular servers as to what host they use and if they suffer from the same crashes as 117.
